Yesterday we had our "Moving Sale". Many of the larger items have already sold on Craigslist, and we have had several garage sales leading up to now, but with this sale we managed to clear out a lot more of the collection of stuff we have accumulated throughout our lives. What is left, we will give to charity.
This has been a long very difficult process. It is amazing how much stuff we manage to collect through our lives, and think we cannot live without. But with our decision to embark on a life in a foreign country, and not wishing to keep all of the stuff in storage, or worse, have it shipped, we decided to free ourselves of everything except the most important. For me, that includes pictures, but very little else. For Steve, I fear this has been much harder.
We are taking our two dogs, 12 year old Pepper, and 2 year old Ginger, but - and this is probably the very hardest thing I have to do - we are not going to bring Bully, our 12 year old cat. He isn't a traveler, and since it is our intent to travel by car from Tucson to Miami over a period of 10 days, I just cannot imagine that trip with a very vociferous cat along.
In 21 days, we will load up and start out. This last 3 weeks will be checking and double checking all reservations and dates to try to make sure everything happens without too much drama. Well, I can try.
